Scoil Chonglais was buzzing with Young Scientists as it opened its doors to its Inaugural SciFest @ School Competition on Friday 19th May.This SciFest programme is a national initiative to encourage a love of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through active, collaborative, inquiry- based learning.Many different groups from various years took part and the judges were very impressed with the standard of work on display.
Among the judges were Mr Rory Geoghegan from the Institute of Physics,Dr Stephen Gammell from Department of Education and Mr Seamus McManus from Kildare ISTA. Mr Conway’s TY Physical Education class produced an interesting array of Sport Science projects ranging from the effect of sugar on the human body during exercise to which diet is most suitable for specific sports.
There was a strong Chemistry/Biology theme running through the projects on show from Ms Fox and Ms Gallagher’s students while Mr Dolans groups displayed their prowess with Computer Coding and practical applications of Technology.
