SciFest is an all-inclusive, all-island science competition where secondary school students demonstrate their skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) projects at a one day science fair. Students get the opportunity to explore the exciting world of science, as well as win some great prizes.
The 4th Year projects will be focusing on the category of Sports Science while the 1st Year students project ‘Bird School’ will examine the effect of sunshine on Bird’s singing and noise levels.
The winners from SciFest@ Scoil Chonglais will go on to compete at the regional final. The winner will go on to represent Wicklow at the SciFest National Final in November.
Awards presented at the National Final include opportunities to represent Ireland at two international science fairs; the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2017 in Los Angeles, California and the International Environment and Sustainability Project Olympiad (INESPO) 2017. SciFest is funded primarily by Science Foundation Ireland, Intel and Boston Scientific.
Best of luck to all students involved on what will be a fantastic night in Scoil Chonglais on the 19th May, 2017.
